Since Austria is tightening its asylum and imigration policies it is more strict to exclude those who are deemed to be ‘economic migrants’. A domino effect will probably follow up to Greek-Macedonian border. Up until now it was more or less enough for some nationalites to say they are going to Germany, but the policies are gettin stricter, where this reason is not enough anymore.
The following information crucial – currently for the Croatian-Slovenian border:
Only if you choose: ‘1. war’ you are allowed travel on to Germany or Austria. Otherwise they will send you back to Croatia.

When you enter Slovenia there is a questionary asking: „Why do you want to go to Germany?” There are four answers that you can choose:
- War
- Study
- Religious reasons
- Family reunification
- Job
Only if you choose: ‘1. war’ you are allowed travel on to Germany or Austria. Otherwise they will send you back to Croatia.
Possibly, they also ask you this question in an oral interview. It is no longer enough that you say you want to ask for asylum in Germany or Austria, you also have to say the reason is war.
It is possible that this new question will be asked on earlier border crossings, such as when entering Croatia, Serbia or Macedonia.
